The Ring Remembers

A scroll story in nineteen chapters, told from the Ring's side, from the forging to the silence after.

Overview

The Ring Remembers takes the Elder Wand's engine to a longer story: the Ring's history from its forging to the silence after it's destroyed, in nineteen chapters. GSAP's ticker is the only requestAnimationFrame and steps React Three Fiber by hand, every chapter derives its state from scroll progress, and one corruption value feeds the lights, fog and post-processing. It's being reworked toward a 2.5D look built from scanned surfaces, so it's marked as building. A fan-made, non-commercial study.

What I built

  • One loop: GSAP's ticker runs Lenis, then advances the 3D frame in a fixed priority order
  • Progress is scroll over maximum scroll, and every chapter derives its values from it, so a jump or deep link renders the same frame
  • One chapter table holds weights, captions, narration and scene modules, with a script that checks the timeline functions
  • A procedural audio engine, captions, and a text version of the whole story
